45 Grave, The Dicks, Texas Terri Bomb, Budaha Brothers & The Fag Hags
Nov 4th, 2005 @ The Brigg

I have'nt seem 45 Grave in years and I keep missing the Texas Terri shows aqs well, so I fuirgured it was high time I make it out to a show... I've been hearing a lot of really great things aobut The Brigg in Huntington beach. Being a Hollywood vampire, the thought of going all the way down there is kind of a pain in the Ass, but figured it was worth it. And on top of that the Dicks were making a very rare SoCal appearance. Missed the Fag Hags' set but heard it was real good. Will have to keep an eye out for them again. The Buddah Brothers were kind of a blues band that happened to have the lead singer from the Dicks singing!! Pulling double duty... get's points in my book. Then Texas Terri hit the stage and didn't disappoint! As energetic as ever. The Dicks were awsome as well... 45 Grave is back!! Newly resurected from the grave. Dinah Cancer has been playing out as Dinah Cancer & The GraveRobbers... but is so happy with this lineup she made a call to the former guitarist Paul Cutler who is working at Ryko Disc to get his blessing to play out with the name 45 Grave. He said "go for it!" ande here we are. The new 45 Grave includes Rikk Agnew from the Adolecents and Christian Deathon guitar, Lisafer from Snap Her on bass, and Jamie Pena of the Chemical People and Punk Rock Vatos on rhythm guitar. Sounded great and the crowd was well into it... Check them when they come to your neck of the woods.

Waking The Dead with Suicidal Tendencies, Germs, Fear, Marky Ramone, & Flipper
Oct 15th,2005

This show started out with the Dead Kennedy's playing then they pulled out and Fear was added instead... then in the LA Weekly aobut a month ago an ad appeared that said that Bad Brains were playing as well... But that turned out to be bunk info... Apparently they were talking to Bad Brains and could not work it out with them and the ad was premature... But the Germs!?! Isn't that guy Darby Crash dead? Well, it turns out that they are filming a movie aobut the Germs right now and the guy they had singing is the guy playing him in the movie. The rest of the band was the original Germs, Don Bolles, Pat Smear, & Lorna Doom.
Now on with the show! I got there while FEAR were on stage so I missed Marky Ramone and Flipper totally... Fear were good... as usual... nothing amazing... just solid rockin! Germs came next and the guy hit the stage acting like Darby reincarnated... writhing around shirtless like a spastic chicken. I'm not that big a Germs fan to begin with, so I couldn't tell how good they were, but I liked it. The crowd seemed to have a problem with mister actor guy and showered him with spit and bottles. He seemed to not mind too much, and ended up chucking bottles back at the audience which, when you are trying to win over fans might not be the right idea. I think he had a little too much fun playing "crazy punk rock guy". here you are talking aobut one of the founding bands in the LA punk scene who went out in a blaze of suicidal glory and you got this fruity actor playing dress-up to a packed house. Not much in the way of integrity. Suicidal high the stage after Germs and the place erupted. The stage was almost as packed as the house and they totally torn it up. I haven't seen Suicidal in years, seeing as how they got banned from playing LA. I saw them in German in the eighties a couple times. It was kind of funny that the whole band is totally different except from Mike Muir. But they put on a great show and the crowd was completely into it... Pledge Your Allegance!!
They even have a MySpace page for the Germs movie so check it out here

Misfits @ Keyclub with DI and More Than Never
Oct 15th,2005

Well, I had reservations about going to see one Misfit member playing a Misfits set... well my reservations were honored and the show was a total joke. Jerry is getting old. He has no hair and is taking the mullet that he does have and pulling it up over his head to form his deillock. The crowd was into it but I think they were into the idea of the Misfits more than the actual show. Jerry is not a singer and had an incridibly hard time keeping up with the songs themselves. Glenn rocked it, but Jerry... come on man, give it a fucking rest. I have to say that the Misfits are now the best Misfits cover band on the planet... but as far as throwing anything new down... it ain't happening.
The opening band Now More Than Never were really great. I recommend checking them out... They have a fun, horor based feel and totally rocked! I interviewed them after the show, but the camera didn't record the audio so I didn't get it. I'll have to check them out again. DI were great, as usual!
More Than Never have a MySpace page so check it out here
